You should always refer to the manufactures installation instructions to determine the recommended place to install the nozzle. I make no recommendations or take any responsibility on where to place your water/methanol injection nozzle. The only recommendation I make is to read your manufacturers installation procedures accurately and carefully before you proceed.

Pre-Turbo Water - You should not use this location if you don’t have the proper equipment available. This includes the proper nozzle, nozzle size and high pressure pump. This location is the most controversial of them all. However if you locate it here then the water/methanol injection dynamically shifts the compressor map of the turbo so that is shows the characteristics of a larger turbo charger. The issue here is that pre-turbo nozzle placement is that the mixture can damage the compressor blade if the mixture is not properly atomized when passing through the turbo. In order to avoid compressor damage you need a high quality low volume nozzle and high enough pressure to get the water as finely misted as possible. A smaller nozzle allows for smaller/finer water droplets. For this placement it is recommended that your mount the nozzle as close to the compressor as you possibly can.

Pre-Intercooler - The air entering the IC is pre-cooled and the ability of the intercooler is altered because the temp difference is lesser. It is also possible that the fine water/alcohol mist will collect in the bottom of your intercooler core. Another issue is that there is a possibility that the hot air from the turbo might unnecessarily vaporize the water and take up some of the volume built up by the turbo that was supposed to be for the charge. This location does not work for some track cars that operate at a more constant higher RPM. This location should not be considered for the daily driver or weekend racer.

Post Intercooler - Most engines have an IAT (intake air temperature) sensor that monitors the temperature of the air going into the engine. Locating the nozzle before the IAT sensor allows it to see cooler temps, and the engine will advance timing which creates more power. In addition by placing the nozzle as far from the cylinders/air intake sensor as possible, allows the water/methanol mixture to be better absorbed into the air intake charge. This location should be considered by most users.

Pre-Air Intake Temperature Sensor - The cold side charge pipe is an easier and less intrusive nozzle location. Mounting must be as close as possible to the IC. The closer the better. Reasons for placing the nozzle here are the same as mentioned in the Post Intercooler Section.

After Air Intake Sensor - The nozzle can be mounted either before or after the butterfly and still be after the air intake temp sensor. If the nozzle is mounted before the butterfly there is less vacuum before versus after the butterfly when idling or driving in vacuum. If your solenoid is placed more than a couple of feet from the injectors then the vacuum can actually suck a little bit of the water/methanol mixture which is ok.

Intake Manifold - This is the most complex place to install the nozzle. Chances are you’ll have to remove the intake in order to gain access. Installing the nozzle at this location is going to yield the largest water/methanol droplets and being closer to the combustion chambers will provide a larger amount of the mixture into the cylinders. This requires more fuel from the factory system to be removed. You will want to remove the factory dumped fuel and replace it with water. This is the best option for maximum cooling. However, the downside is kit/component complexity, installation complexity, additional labor, possibility of machine shop charges and the possibility of adding additional parts.

Check out AEM 30-3000 Water Methanol Injection Kit
and
PERRIN Performance ASM-ENG-901 Water Methanol Injection Kit

AIT Racing Carbon Fiber Hoods for the Chevy Cobalt

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 107px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_WSqqwN0c8J8/S2Yq4K-j-LI/AAAAAAAAAAk/wnBI7RdrX8M/s320/CC05BMR1SCFH_hood+1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433077144976881842" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 107px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_WSqqwN0c8J8/S2YqwOZrwjI/AAAAAAAAAAc/ZSoDQ8veyvw/s320/CC05BMCFH_Chevy_Cobalt.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433077008456991282" />
AIT Racing OEM and R1 Style Carbon Fiber Hoods for the Chevy Cobalt 05-09.

AIT Racing Carbon Fiber Hoods are the best carbon fiber hoods on the market, so treat your Cobalt to a new and much more stylish street look.

AIT Racing utilizes a technology similar to F1 Racing Car production. Their process uses vacuum infusion technology with honeycomb core and folded edges to produce a lighter and much stronger hood compared to wet laid hoods produced by other manufacturers. Vacuum infusion can produce laminates (carbon fiber) with a uniform degree of consolidation that produces high strength and lightweight products. Honeycomb panels are used instead of more layers of reinforcement (fiberglass fabric) for the core of the hood. Honeycomb saves up to 90% of weight and has a high strength to weight and stiffness to weight ratio.

AIT Racing uses BGF Industries, INC carbon fiber which is combined with a high quality clear gel-coat to produce a high quality shine. There will be no yellowing and/or peeling because this gel-coat is the best on the market. Holes are pre-drilled.

These carbon fiber hoods are intended for off-road use only. Quality hood pins are required. Buyer discretion is also advised. All carbon fiber products require professional installation steps. Therefore it is NOT considered to be defective. Most carbon fiber products are hand-crafted therefore no two items will be identical. Expect small imperfections such as wavy weaves, small bubbles, and clear coat blemishes, these are inevitable.

The vacuum infusion process is a technique that uses vacuum pressure to drive resin into a laminate. Carbon fiber is laid dry into a mold and the vacuum is applied before resin is introduced. Once a complete vacuum is achieved, resin is literally sucked into the laminate (carbon fiber) via carefully placed tubing. To aid in this process an assortment of supplies and materials are used.

Vacuum Process

First layer of CF fabric is laid down in the mold, and then additional layers of fiberglass are laid down to add support. (The hood is not 100% carbon fiber due to high costs). Honeycomb core is laid down next and then a last layer of fiberglass is laid down to complete a sandwich effect. A vacuum bag is placed over the sandwich and the vacuum is started. When vacuum is finished the resin begins to fill the mold. Once cured the hood is removed from the vacuum bag and sent to quality control for inspection.

AIT Racing Body Kits for the Chevy Cobalt

AIT Racing BMX and ZEN Style Body Kits for the 05-09 Chevy Cobalt 2 and 4 doors models.

Kits will include 4 pieces, a front and rear bumper and 2 side skirts. These parts can all be purchased as individual pieces.

You’ve done the research, you’ve checked out other manufacturers, you’ve checked pricing and now you’re ready to purchase a complete AIT Racing Body Kit for your Chevy Cobalt.

Since the beginning AIT Racing has been producing body kit products in FRP composites. However not body kits are the same. Some manufacturers use other forms of plastic components in their process. Unfortunately most plastics are pure, like toys, and soda bottles. However, plastics can be reinforced with fibers when additional strength is needed. This combination produces some of the strongest and most versatile materials for their weight class.

AIT Racing’s own formulated resin is a hybrid form of polyester resin which has been enhanced with epoxy molecules within the main molecular structure to toughen it up. This formulated resin offers better resistance to moisture absorption, is more flexible and offers higher strength.

Because of this your body kit parts will not expand or shrink with temperature changes like other body kits. They will not absorb water and they are non-flammable. For the most part they are chemical resistant (expect for hydrofluoric, hot phosphoric acids, and strong alkaline substances). They also exhibit higher strength to weight ratio when compared to other manufacturer products.

The craftsmanship is exceptional with 10% of the process being hand crafted. There are multiple layers of hand lay-up fiberglass. Shift throw or distance between gears on the Chevrolet Cobalt is reduced by 33% to 38% depending on model and shift knob height is shortened by 1 inch to 2 Inches depending on model. This allows for very smooth and precise movement through the gears. This short shifter also retains the reverse lockout feature and is available with optional aluminum shift base bushings for a more solid and direct shift feel.
This short shifter also comes standard with an aluminum shift knob specifically designed to accommodate the reverse lock out. The shift knob can be upgraded to a weighted stainless steel shift knob for an even smoother shift feel.
This short shifter also resolves common issues that other short shifters on the market have such as reverse lock out movement. Delrin bushings and o-rings for super smooth reverse lock action are used to correct this annoying occurrence.
Also referred to as a short throw shifter the short shifter is a performance enhancing replacement for the stock long throw manual shifter installed at the factory. The OEM shifter are designed for the masses and are not accommodating for the enthusiast who demands performance.
The main purpose of a short throw shifter is to mechanically reduce the time it takes to change from one gear to another.
With this reduction in time you will be able to shift from one gear to another in a fraction of the time it takes you now using a made for the masses factory stock unit.
You and your Chevy Cobalt deserve the best and now is the time to upgrade the performance and feel of your transmission.

Super Smooth Reverse Lock Available for SS/SC and SS/TC
Reduces Shift Knob Height
4506 Reduces Throw by 38% and Knob Height by 2 Inches
4507 Reduces Throw by 33% and Knob Height by 1 Inch
Delrin Bushings and O-Rings Used
Comes Standard with an Aluminum Shift Knob
Visit us at cobaltmania

Triple Pod Pillar Installation

You just purchased 3 2 1/6th inch gauges for the interior of your Chevrolet Cobalt. Now what. Well you have few choices when it comes to mounting them, 1st choice is to use mounting brackets and attach them anywhere you can, 2nd choice is to have a custom setup made, and the 3rd choice is to purchase an Auto Meter triple A pillar pod and install it yourself. I highly recommend the 3rd choice as it is in-expensive and an easy process.
I will attempt to take you through a typical triple A pillar pod Autometer 12205 installation with a vacuum/boost gauge Autometer 6103, a wide band air/fuel sensor Autometer 6178 and a fuel pressure gauge Autometer 6163.
1. Locate the factory A pillar trim on the driver’s side of your Cobalt, grab hold of it and give it a firm tug. If you feel the need to pry it off be sure to use tools that cannot mar or otherwise damage other parts of your car.
2. Label both ends of each gauge wire and then attach them small zip ties to the existing wires running up the pillar. Be sure that you have the correct ends to hook to the gauges at the pillar openings.
3. Locate the gauges’ lighting wires and solder them together and wire into the dash light dimmer switch.
4. Locate the gauges’ power supply wires and wire them into a constant on 12 volt ignition source.
5. Mount ground wires to the body, choose an appropriate place somewhere behind the dash.
6. Feed the wires for the boost and fuel pressure gauge through a new grommet in the firewall somewhere behind the dash. For this you will need to find an appropriate position where you can drill the recommended hole size for the grommet through the firewall without any obstructions. Now, install the waterproof grommet. To feed the wires through the grommet into the engine compartment you will need to cut the ends of the plugs off. Once you have the wire through the grommet re-solder the plug ends on. This is where labeling each of wires comes in handy.
7. The wires for the air/fuel meter need to be fed through expandable sheathing and then passed through a new grommet on the floor. Be sure to choose an appropriate place and drill the recommended size hole for the grommet. Feed the wire though the grommet and install the wide band 02 sensor in the manufacturers recommend place.
8. Attach the 2-bar MAP and the fuel pressure sending unit per manufacturer’s instructions.
9. Mark the location of each wire on the factory pillar and use a suitable tool to cut a hole to accept each gauge wire.
10. Re-install the factory pillar ensuring each gauge wire end protrudes through.
11. Attach double sided trim tape to the triple pod pillar and use a bit of high-melt hot glue at the top of the pillar and then lock it into place.

12. Attach each gauge to appropriate labeled wire and insert the each gauge into the pod position with a bit of pressure.
The auto meter pillar pod comes in dual and triple gauge configurations. The pillar is black but can easily be painted before installation to match your Cobalt’s interior color scheme.

RKSport Ram Air Hood for the Chevy Cobalt

RKSport Ram-Air Hood for the Chevy Cobalt, all 2 door and 4 door models, 05-08, 12011000.

Up style the exterior appearance of your Cobalt with the purchase and installation of a performance enhancing and street styling RKSport Ram-Air Hood.
